The "Hamburg" Matten Filter was as the name suggests first developed in Hamburg, Germany, probably around the late 1950's.
The design is in itself very simple with the prime ingredients being a piece of inert open cell foam having a pore size of between 10 and 40 PPI (Pore Per Inch). A air driven uplift tube and some 1" (25mm) spacer.
